A Fused Glass bowl from Shimmering Glass is perfect as an interior design element in your living or dinning room. Use a large bowl with fruit or flowers as a centerpiece. An empty bowl from Shimmering Glass is beautiful in it's own right and is sure to start a conversation.

Fused Glass Bowls from Shimmering Glass come in a variety of shapes, styles and designs. "Slumped Bowls" like many of the large 12 inch round or hexagonal shaped bowls ware a little more traditional, while the 10 inch square 'Drop" bowls are truly unique. First placing the square shape you have designed onto a square mold with a large hole in the center, you then heat the glass slowly up to 1310 degrees to reach the ideal temperature when your glass takes on more of it's innate liquid properties. The heated glass slowly stretches through the hole, watching over the glass will help you decide the exact point at which to 'vent' the kiln - stopping the drop process while you quickly cool it down to around 1000 degrees. Careful now - this is a critical time as the glass begins to anneal, slowly working through one of several critical stress points in the 'heating process'. Approximately one hour later we can begin slowly cooling the glass again, very slowly until we have reached room temperature and it's safe to open the kiln and admire your completed piece of Fused Glass Art.
